Muck & Dirty Noise present...Light Year: Review

There had been a lot of hype surrounding last Friday's fourth collaboration between Muck and Dirty Noise. Light Year recorded an exclusive mix for Muck in January which has already reached close to 800 downloads, and word on the street was that Stereo was the place to be. I was fully prepared for an evening in a sweat-box with banging tunes and some serious body-movin'.

Dirty Noise took to the decks and worked their way through the gears from minimal electro/tech to filth befitting their name via Ado and The Mastertrons. The place was quiet but it was early yet, and all in attendance were showing their appreciation on the dancefloor. Muck's own benevolent bearded PMcQ followed suit with some dance-inducing tropical beats and with the smoke machine cranked up, we suddenly we had ourselves a clubnight!

By the time Light Year came on every soul in stereo was on the dancefloor. The electro silverware the Aussies were pulling out the bag included classic and crowd-pleasing tunes from the likes of Daft Punk, Boys Noize and Strip Steve; a set that could have been described as 'safe' if it hadn't been mixed in such a talented and inspired fashion. 'Marcellus' is my personal Light Year pick- but 'Five Girls' also went down a treat.

Considering that the atmosphere and tunes were top-notch the turn out was slightly disappointing. I can't imagine why, perhaps Stereo is just too off the radar for some. Whatever the reason, if you weren't there last Friday- you missed out! So keep an eye out for upcoming nights from Muck and Dirty Noise, in the meantime get yourself the Light Year mix from the Muck website HERE.
